Pinnacle Engineering worked directly for the University of Mary Washington to assess substructure damage to the pedestrian bridge. Our work was extended to an overall assessment of the structure that included invasive investigation of deck reinforcing steel.

Pinnacle Engineering conducted a periodic structural condition inspection of University Hall, home of the Virginia Cavaliers basketball teams until 2006. Our report included a listing of recommended repairs to the concrete-framed building with timeline priorities assigned to the items. Inspection work involved evaluation of changes in items previously reported, as well as documentation of items newly surfaced, with recommendations for remediation. Pinnacle Engineering also performed new inspections of areas previously not addressed in prior structural condition reports, such as the concrete compression ring at the center of the roof structure.

Pinnacle Engineering evaluated structural damage to a townhouse caused by a building explosion nearby, and provided recommendations to the insurance company for remedial actions. The high pressures induced by the blast caused the exterior wall to bow outwards. The exterior wood stud wall at the base displaced almost 5 inches away from the sub floor diaphragm. Investigation addressed condition of the wall framing and connections to the floor and roof gravity and lateral support structures.
